Peace Dove Candle Holder
A small bird perches at the base of the candle like it wandered over and decided to stay, wings tucked, standing watch on a round pedestal footed just enough to lift it off the table. The glaze runs a deep cobalt, pooling darker in the folds of the wings and lightening where it thins near the edges, the kind of variation that only happens when a hand is doing the pouring. Equal parts ornament and utility.

About the Maker
The workshop behind this piece brings Egyptian craft into daily use, working with artisans across the country: Fayoum potters shaping the ceramics, Akhmim weavers turning out textiles in a region that's been making cloth since antiquity, and basket weavers working wicker and palm by hand into covers and trim. Built around the belief that these skills are worth keeping alive, the workshop also runs a training school teaching embroidery to women who work from home, and is building an artist residency to keep the crafts evolving rather than freezing into imitation. Every piece traces back to a specific set of hands, not a factory line.
