The Egg Trug
A trug is a functional object, used for holding flowers, vegetables or eggs. However, in the deft hands of Jane Crisp they become altogether transformed into a rare object of skill, tradition and astonishing beauty. Combining her experience as a furniture maker, and her interest in boat-building practices and materials, Crisp elevates the trug to a remarkable sculptural object.
Made entirely from natural materials, each trug is constructed from wood that is carefully hand-selected by Jane Crisp, who evaluates every batch for quality, suitability, and character prior to use.
Material: Ash wood, copper nail and rove fixings
Dimensions: H30 x W32 x D35cm; H11.81 W12.59 x D13.77in

About the Brand
Jane Crisp is a British artist who lives and works in the Fenlands. While practice spans furniture making and homeware design, she has settled acute focus on the trug - an object that she elevated from a utilitarian object into one intense sculptural beauty through the use of traditional steam bending techniques that are inspired by boat building techniques local to Crisps workshop. Featuring overlapping construction fixed with copper nails, the trugs are strong yet light, functional and sculptural, and never fail to delight the eye.
