About the Brand
Willie Cole is a Connecticut-based abstract painter and photographer, whose practice is guided by intuition, rhythm, and a deep trust in process. In the studio—an extension of his own thinking—he works with a keen sense of movement and tempo, often letting music set the pace. Early influences include the legacies of Abstract Expressionism—Joan Mitchell, Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, and Cy Twombly—yet the visual language he’s developed is entirely his own: loose, unapologetic, and alive. Eschewing over-planning in favour of discovery, Cole privileges sensation over didacticism, inviting viewers to feel before they interpret.
