‘Dance, Dance, Dance’ Flag
Matisse once painted dancers spinning across a green hill as if gravity were optional; carnival crowds once followed painted banners through winter streets. This PORTA x Pangea flag does both: a leaping harlequin juggling the sun and moon on feathered wings, a Pierrot with a heart on her chest kneeling beneath a crescent moon, all framed in a checkered border like a stage. A banner for joy, made to lead the party.
About the Maker
Part Fellini fairground, part Cocteau dream, part Commedia dell’Arte, with a little Bauhaus choreography keeping time. For the 2026 holiday season, PORTA x Pangea pitches a striped tent in the snow. Pangea is painter and ceramicist Laëtitia Rouget and creative director Colombine Jubert, two friends who build whole worlds out of color, cloth, and gesture between Lisbon and Paris. Each piece in their Winter Carnival began as a spell rather than an object, then slipped into disguise: a matchbox, a notecard, a paper crown, a stocking, a flag, an advent calendar. Harlequins leap, acrobats hold their pose, and stars trail along a wandering ribbon, all of it made to come out of storage every December for years to come.
