Designed in collaboration with a contemporary printing workshop that uses the artisanal tradition of hand-block 'rust printing', stampa a ruggine, unique to the Romagna region of Italy, first recorded 500 years ago.
The design is a small element borrowed from the traditional embroidery of Northern Portugal, which we isolated, enlarged and applied through the use of natural dye and custom printing blocks hand cut in Italy out of pear wood.

Material: Linen blend, natural dyes

About the Maker
This contemporary printing workshop is founded on the artisanal tradition of hand-block 'rust printing', stampa a ruggine, unique to the Romagna region of Italy, first recorded 500 years ago. Using only natural fabrics, dyes and colors, the workshop expands on the tradition of rust printing through the use of additional colors, and contemporary designs applied to the fabric through the original techniques.
