Thanksgiving Tables: Tricks of the Trade

Thanksgiving Tables: Tricks of the Trade

It’s that time of year when pumpkins trade in their lantern lives for a spot on the dessert table—a real Cinderella moment, if you ask us. Yes, Thanksgiving is upon us: the most wonderful time of the year (before the most wonderful time of the year).

We all know the Thanksgiving food lineup—turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce on repeat. But the real flavor? It’s in the mix of family, friends, in-laws, and that special combination of warmth and, ahem, “charm” that every holiday gathering brings. And, while we’re all here for the joyful unity and thanks, who hasn’t seen it dip into the danger zone after one snarky comment from your cousin or an unwelcome, pointed question from your parents about your parenting?

So, how do we make this the year where everyone’s (mostly) on their best behavior? A few suggestions below and keep an eye out for our table and gifting ideas coming soon:

For the Table

Set the Scene: Plan your table ahead. A beautifully set table hints that this is a moment for grace, good vibes, and maybe a little extra effort.

Pick a Tone and Go With It: Blues and greens, earthy rusts and burgundy, or simple neutrals—commit to a color scheme and pull it through to give an intentional feel.

Mix Your Materials: Once you’ve locked in your color story, play with texture—think ceramics, glass, and a bit of silver for sparkle. Mixing materials keeps things interesting and inviting.

Decorate: When in doubt, look at what is going on outside to stay in seasonal step. If there aren’t many flowers, reach for some branches and trade in petals for leaves. We also love borrowing from the food that you are preparing—a gourd, cabbage, fig, Brussels sprout never looked so good as atop a table (uncooked, please).

Linens are Non-Negotiable: Linen tablecloths and napkins elevate everything. Double up with a layered tablecloth effect, letting the bottom cloth peek out for a little extra softness and depth. Luxe, quiet, and inviting.

Candles, Candles, Candles: Nothing keeps the mood cozy like layers of candlelight. Stagger heights from tea lights to tall tapers, setting the mood for a long, warm evening.

No Iron? No Problem! Lay out the tablecloth, grab a spray bottle, mist away those wrinkles, and smooth with your hands. Instant pressed look!

Gift Well: Show up with a thoughtful host gift, or if you’re hosting, treat yourself to something special. You deserve it.

For Yourself

Let it Slide: Adopt a holiday mantra—“like water off a duck’s back.” Embrace the charm, enjoy the chats, and save clean-up worries for later. After all, once the table is set, there is only so much you can control.
