The Selection of Adam Charlap Hyman

Architect, designer, curator, aesthete — Adam Charlap Hyman wears many (very stylish) hats. As cofounder of Charlap Hyman & Herrero, his projects span everything from theatrical sets to visionary residences, sculptural buildings to artful interiors. No matter the scale, Adam brings a signature blend of history, wit, and a collector’s eye for beauty.

We’re thrilled to feature Adam in this iteration of The Selection Of. His edit is a brilliant, layered collection that feels at once romantic, architectural, and just the right amount of witty. From silver butter shells and Murano glass bowls to a postmodern Alessi kitchen storage box and a tablecloth that gives Victorian vibes, his picks reflect a deep love of craftsmanship, playful elegance, and objects that spark conversation.

Currently, CHH is reimagining part of Little Island into a new public park space with dining and drinks (yes, please) and has curated a must-see exhibition now open at R & Company through August.

Adam's Selection

Summerill & Bishop | Ivy Herbarium Linen Tablecloth, Small: I love this tablecloth because it reminds me of Castaing, and it has a touch of the Victorian in a really cool way.

Heath Wagoner | Oyster Shell Cocktail Stirrer: It would be so amazing to bring this out at a party; the idea of that conspiratorial moment when you leave the group with one person to mix them a drink is always so fun - having a special embellishment for it seems appropriate.

Alessi | Kalisto Kitchen Box: I am a fan of this Alessi Kalisto Kitchen Box because I believe having a postmodern moment in your kitchen is important. I love when kitchen tools and appliances look like buildings on your countertop!

S.J. Shrubsole | Vintage Cigarette Box Book: I’m obsessed with this cigarette box, etched to look like a book - what precious magic!

S.J. Shrubsole | Vintage Silver Buttershells: These buttershells are a real treasure - I would leave them out all the time!

Louisa Snack Bowl (Red): This little snack bowl is such a cool touch of Murano glass for your table - the spiraling design is captivating.

Gustavo Snack Bowl (Blue): This glass bowl reminds me of Scarpa; it has an elemental and architectural quality, scaled in such a way that feels incredibly precious. You can imagine a few of these around a living room with snacks, looking confident, yet subtle.

Enza Fasano | Gio Espresso Set (Bordeaux): Enza Fasano creates the most classic, perfect ceramics - I have these in my office and we love them.

Piccolo Spoon (Iris): Having a shot of this electric blue in a more white and off-white table setting would be just fantastic. I envision a table with white linens, white plates, silver, and some of these.

Celine Serving Plate: This platter has a mesmerizingly Memphis-like, yet totally classic and handmade pattern. I love that its base ever so slightly lights it off the table.

Remi Decorative Fruit Bowl: The latticework of this bowl is fantastically complex and simple at the same time. I love anything trompe l’oeil, especially when it is subtle like this.

Malia Hand Towel, Set of 2 (Rose): These hand towels have such an amazing texture and weight to them, and they gleam with a handmade quality that I really appreciate in the more austere setting of a bathroom.
