Spring Playlist

Curated by People's founders Emmet McDermott and Margot Hauer-King

This season’s playlist comes from one of the most talked-about spots in Greenwich Village—People’s, an evening club and art salon designed for unwinding after dinner and easing into the night. Curated by founders Emmet McDermott and Margot Hauer-King, it captures the easy glamour and off-the-record charm of a night well spent in very good company.

People’s inhabits what was once the Downtown Gallery, a historic space founded in 1926 that helped launch American Modernism and shaped the early careers of Georgia O’Keeffe, Stuart Davis, and Max Weber. Today, it’s been reimagined as a richly layered space for gathering—part salon, part hideaway, part house party with velvet banquettes and Champagne on repeat. Like PORTA, People’s is about feeling at home—but the best version of it: effortlessly cool, warmly lit, filled with friends and a touch of magic. Their spring playlist captures that mood exactly. Think slow builds and late-night energy, songs that glow like candlelight and sparkle like a well-made martini. Songs that get you going.

While People’s is open to all, it’s not without a little effort. It’s a word-of-mouth, family-style affair, which means you'll need a personal invitation... one of those rare places you hear about before you ever see it. And one very worth chasing.

Enjoy!

About PORTA Playlist

At PORTA, we believe that just like a well-curated table, music has the power to set the perfect mood for any gathering. Whether it's for a cozy dinner, a lively soirée, or simply a quiet moment, the right playlist brings people together, much like our thoughtfully sourced homewares.

In our PORTA Playlist series, we invite friends of the brand, from musicians to tastemakers, to curate special playlists that reflect the energy of the season or a particular event. Each selection is a journey in sound—crafted with the same care and creativity that goes into every piece in our collection.
