Agua Magica

Agua Mágica is a fine spirit stemming from the rich terrain of San Juan del Río, one of Oaxaca’s oldest and first mezcal producing villages. The brand highlights the depths of the agave spirit alongside Oaxacan culture, and in keeping with local tradition, Agua Mágica is meant to be sipped neat during moments of introspection, commemoration and transcendence. 

Their approach to selecting agaves is akin to that of a premier cru wine with their mezcaleros carefully handpicking agaves grown in the best micro-climates, allowing for the distinct characteristics of the land to shine through in the spirit’s flavor. This results in a layered depth of taste that is smooth and flavorful, offering herbal and fresh notes with touches of cooked maguey, banana, almond,mango and caramel, a true reflection of the unparalleled terroir of San Juan del Rio. Agua Magica can be served as an aperitif, paired with a meal or enjoyed throughout a long night of festivities.

The agave design pays homage to the plant at the heart and soul of Agua Mágica mezcal, while  the crosses, delicately painted on the sides and importantly, on the bottom of the Copitas, hold a special meaning rooted in Oaxacan tradition. 'Hasta que veas la cruz!' (Drink until you see the cross!) is the lighthearted toast in Oaxaca, which harkens back to a time when people used to drink Mezcal out of small glasses originally used to hold prayer candles which had a cross etched into the bottom. When these glasses were raised, the cross could be seen. To this end, each sip from our celestial Copitas becomes a journey—a connection to traditions and a celebration of the customs and spirit of Oaxaca.
